2013 begins with new projects and new perspectives on old ones. I am working on a new outdoor version of ‘Alice Through the Pinhole’. Pinhole photographs of vintage marionnettes made by Margaret Littleton Cook. I will be creating a wonderland trail through a garden space. As in the books where Alice encounters unexpectedly the characters from Wonderland and the Looking Glass world visitors will come upon the large photographs of the characters amongst, plants, flowers and woodland areas. Playing with logic, time and perception the photographs also consider Alice’s journey as a spiritual one. Setting the in an outdoor setting will change how we see and interact with the images, playing again with scale and juxtaposition.
“when you say garden, I’ve seen gardens compared with this which would be a wilderness;”
Lewis Carroll, Through the Looking Glass
